NDC Outdoors 13-Member Commitee To Probe Party’s Defeat

The Functional Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) with the approval of the Council of Elders has established a 13 member committee to investigate the cause(s) of the party’s abysmal loss to the NPP in the 2016 General Election and recommend the way forward.

The committee is chaired by Former Minister of finance and Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission(NDPC)- Prof Kwesi Botchway.

The Party is scheduled to address a press conference today-29th December, 2016 and outdoor the members of committee.

The committee’s terms of reference will also be announced at the news conference at the NDC headquarters in Adabraka, Accra. The incumbent John Mahama lost the polls to Nana Akufo-Addo becoming Ghana’s next president at the third time of asking.

The Former Attorney General of the erstwhile Kufuor regime obtained more than 50% plus one vote required to beat his main rival, President John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress in the tight contest held December 7, 2016.

The president-elect will be sworn in on January 7 after a one-month transition period. Mr Akufo-Addo had lost previous elections in 2008 and 2012 but pulled through at the third attempt.

Ignore ‘Fake’ Ministerial List – NPP

Eugene Arhin, Press Secretary to President-elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has asked the general public to disregard a list being circulated on social media and other platforms supposedly containing the names of persons pencilled for ministerial and deputy ministerial positions in the incoming administration.

According to him, the list purported to have been signed by him is fake, for which reason the public should disregard it.

He indicated that the official list of appointments would be announced by the president-elect after he has been sworn into office on the 7th of January.

He wrote on his Facebook page on Tuesday December 27: “Again, kindly ignore a statement which is making the rounds on social media, and purportedly signed by me, listing names of persons appointed as Ministers and Deputy Ministers by the president-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. It's completely fake, and a figment of someone's imagination.

“The names of the president-elect's appointees will be put out officially after he is sworn in, God willing, on January 7, 2017.”

Mahama Invited Me To Ghana Through Chief Momodu - Osuofia

Some Nigerians have decided to make Ghana’s politics their business in this year’s elections. We have had actor Hanks Anuku campaigning for the NPP, and Nigerian businessman, Dele Momodu doing the PR works for NDC and the latest introduction is popular Nollywood actor, Nkem Owoh, popularly known in the showbiz world as Osuofia.

Well, Osuofia has finally disclosed why he is in Ghana and who invited him among others. In an interview with Joy News, he disclosed that he is in Ghana on the invitation by Prez Mahama through his good friend, Dele Momodu.

On why he is in Ghana, he said, “I’m in Ghana on the invitation of Prez Dramani Mahama through my good friend, Chief Dele Momodu.”
He went on to say,

“I’m appreciating the relationship that’s existing between me and President Mahama. I was in Ghana before, but when I came back now, I was telling my friend that he hasn’t brought me to this part of Ghana and he said, it’s the same place just that the development of Ghana by Prez Mahama is just commendable. There is a transformation gradually on a very positive note in Ghana and this makes me salute the President the more. I think he’s doing a lot of work in Ghana.”

NPP Doing The Same Thing They Did To Nkrumah To Mahama - Spio Garbra.

The Trade and Industry Minister has taken a swipe at the biggest opposition party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) by describing their actions and utterances as akin to that of their forebears, the United Party (UP).

According to Dr. Ekow Spio Garbrah, the NPP is attacking President Mahama's unparalleled achievements as far as infrastructural development is concerned because that is the same thing they did to the Nation's first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

". . we know their traits and they are doing all they can to destroy President Mahama and his achievements because it is these same people who in 1966, together with the American CIA overthrew Kwame Nkrumah's government and destroyed over 300 industries he set up.

"Their sole aim was to tell the people of Ghana that Nkrumah had done nothing. And I tell you honestly that the NPP has the attributes of the UP tradition. They have only metamorphosed in name and not character," he told Kwame Nkrumah Tikesie on OKAY FM.

Spio Garbrah further traced the various transformations in name of the political tradition till the present one, NPP, and called on all Ghanaians to disregard all the negative and baseless assertions being made against the person and administration of President Mahama.

"They began by calling themselves the United Party (UP), then Progress Party (PP), later the Popular Front Party (PFP) and now the New Patriotic Party (NPP) so they have always changed in name but their character and members remain," he claimed.

Dr. Ekow Spio Garbrah made this statement on the back of a promise by the Presidential Candidate of the NPP, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo to build one factory in each district and also one dam in a village across the length and breadth of Ghana, should he be voted into power as President.

". . we would have been far ahead by this time, we assembled many things including radio sets, refrigerators, we had the Nsawan Cannery where we canned fruits and vegetables. We had a glass factory and a sugar factory . . . all these were run down by the UP tradition, now NPP, so we must be wary when we hear them talk about 'one district, one factory' because it is deceitful."

To him, the only hope to this country at this moment is President John Dramani Mahama because he is leading the way to revamp all the factories that were destroyed.

" . . he is the one who has been able to put life in the Komenda and Asutwari Sugar Factories after the forefathers of the NPP ruined them over forty years ago," he said.

Incompetence & Corruption Is Destroying Our Economy- Bawumia Schools Gov’t

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Running Mate to Nana Akufo-Addo, has debunked the claim made by Vice-President Amissah-Arthur that restoring the Teacher and Nursing Training Allowances will collapse the economy and explained that what is destroying the Ghanaian economy is the Incompetence, Mismanagement and Corruption of the NDC government.

Dr. Bawumia also noted the clear confusion between President Mahama and his Vice-President and the several inconsistencies in the government’s stance over the Teacher and Nursing Training Allowances.

Speaking at the Nalerigu Nurses Training College, Dr. Bawumia expressed shock at the constant contradictions of government officials on the allowances, saying “in government, we will expose the incompetence of this NDC administration.

There is nowhere where they have demonstrated as much incompetence as in the area of the Teacher and Nursing Training Allowances. They have demonstrated monumental incompetence.”

“Today, you do not really know what the policy of the NDC is as far as the issue of Training Allowances is concerned.

First, they said they have cancelled the allowances, and as the election was getting close, they said they are going to restore the allowances. And there is now a clear conflict between the President and Vice-President over their policy on Nursing Training Allowances”, he pointed out.

Responding to the claim made by the Vice-President on the same campus barely a week ago, Dr. Bawumia noted that the comment by the current Head of the Economic Management Team suggests that handlers of the economy still do not understand how this economy works and how to handle it.

“So when the Vice-President came here and said that the allowances will destroy this economy, it simply means they do not understand the economy. What is destroying the economy is mismanagement, incompetence and corruption; that is what is destroying this economy”, he said.

Free Lesson to Amissah-Arthur and Government

Providing what he termed as a free lesson for the handlers of the economy, Dr. Bawumia explained that Ghana’s current economic challenges, which had led to the cuts in among others the allowances, were down to the mismanagement and unbridled borrowing which had seen a skyrocketing of Ghana’s interest payments.

“Let me give the NDC and the Vice-President a free lesson in economic management. The interest payments under the NPP before we left office was less than 700million Ghana cedis, under the NDC, in just 8 years, it has jumped to 10.5 billion Ghana cedis.

“Poverty, Hunger No Respecter Of Tribe” – Akufo-Addo

The 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is calling on all Ghanaians to vote for their future on December 7, stressing that the poverty and hunger that have engulfed the country under President Mahama are no respecter of tribe or ethnicity.

According to him, the impact of the mismanagement of the Ghanaian economy is being felt by every Ghanaian in the form of rising costs of living, high utility tariffs, record levels of unemployment, fuel price hikes, a weak currency, dwindling economic growth, low real wages, high interest rates, amongst others.

In spite of these, and with some 27 days to the holding of this year’s elections, Nana Akufo-Addo explained that opponents of the NPP are going about the country preaching the politics of ethnicity and division, all in the name of scoring cheap political points and in the bid to win this year’s elections.

Addressing residents of Dadiesoaba, in the Asutifi South constituency of the Brong Ahafo Region, on Thursday, November 10, 2016, at the commencement of his 4-day tour of the region, the NPP flagbearer noted that “for election purposes, some will come amongst you and say that the NPP does not like you, and when the NPP comes into office, we are going to drive you away from this land. All these are lies, with no iota of truth.”

Nana Akufo-Addo stated that “the hunger that is upon the land, under the leadership of President John Mahama, is no respecter of tribe, neither does it discriminate against any ethnic group. Will hunger bypass you all because you are a Kusasi, Dagarti or Northerner? No! It is affecting all of us.”

To this end, Nana Akufo-Addo urged residents, which include a large section of settlers of northern extraction, not to entertain the politics of division, urging all ethnic groups living in Dadiesoaba to live in unity, and, with one accord, push out the non-performing Mahama government on December 7.

He explained that with a good government at the helm of affairs in the country, coupled with the implementation of sound policies, Ghana will be returned onto the path of progress and prosperity.

An Akufo-Addo, ‘God-willing’ from January 2017, the NPP flagbearer assured, will “revive the collapsed National Health Insurance Scheme, ensure the effective implementation of the Free SHS policy, and reallocate Ghana’s capital budget to ensure that every constituency receives the equivalent of $1 million a year to tackle issues relating to infrastructural development.”

On his ‘1-District-1-Factory policy’, Nana Akufo-Addo committed himself to the establishment of a ginger processing facility for residents of Dadiesoaba, whose mainstay is the cultivation of ginger, as well as cocoa.

“This processing facility will create jobs for the youth in Dadiesoaba, as well as put money in your pockets. These policies I am telling you about are not vote buying policies. I won’t come before the Ghanaian people and say things I know I cannot fulfil. I will never lie to Ghanaians. All these policies I have espoused are ones which have been well thought through. It can be done, that is why I am saying this to you, and asking you for your support,” the NPP flagbearer said.

He continued, “Ghanaians have become miserable under President John Mahama. We live on a rich land, and yet we are hungry. If God wills it, my government is coming into office to change all of this and return the country onto the path of progress and prosperity.”

Mahama Works With Violent Men – Akufo-Addo

The President is going all over the world talking about Ghana, talking about peace and talking about democracy.

And in his cabinet, around the cabinet table at which he is presiding, are people who instigate violence – purveyors of violence, sitting around his cabinet table. He doesn’t care.

He doesn’t have the strength of character to reprimand them, and tell them to stop what they are doing. He is simply looking on unconcerned. Does this mean he endorses this kind of conduct?”

These were the words of the 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, whilst campaigning in Hwidiem, in the Asutifi South constituency of the Brong Ahafo Region, on Thursday, November 10, 2016.

Nana Akufo-Addo made these comments on the back of consistent attacks against NPP members in Asutifi South being perpetrated by Hon. Collins Dauda, MP for the constituency and Minister for Local Government, and, also, on the back of the recent assault of NPP members in Odododiodioo led by MP for the constituency and Minister for Youth and Sports, Nii Lante Vanderpuye.

Nana Akufo-Addo noted that this kind of leadership, being displayed by President Mahama, is not the kind needed to move Ghana forward and return her on the path of progress and prosperity.

“No one should see himself or herself above the law. We don’t want any trouble in Ghana. Those who think that violence, through the use of guns and machetes, is the only path to which they can succeed should have a good rethink, because it will not succeed, he added.”

With residents of Hwidiem and surrounding towns living in fear as a result of atrocities and acts of intimidation being meted out to them by Hon. Collins Dauda, the NPP flagbearer condemned these acts, explaining that they have no place in a democracy.

Nana Akufo-Addo wondered what kind of man would resort to the use of violence against a woman in a contest.

“You (Collins Dauda) are contesting a woman, and you’re having to employ guns, harmful weapons and the use of macho men in order to win? It is a shame and a disgrace. What kind of a man are you then? You are employing all of these shameful tactics, not against a fellow man, but, against a woman. This is a disgrace. When such things happen, it means you have already lost,” he said.

Nana Akufo-Addo was confident that, regardless of these “shameful” tactics being employed by Hon. Collins Dauda, residents of Hwidiem and Asutifi South will vote out the NDC, in both presidential and parliamentary elections.

The NPP flagbearer noted that “the people of Asutifi South will not allow themselves to be cowed by violence, nor will they allow violent people to superintend over them. No one can be kept away from voting. Everybody is going to have the chance to cast their vote in this election.

Nana Akufo-Addo urged the electorate not to be complacent, in the belief that the NPP has already won the election.

“We don’t want that. Until the ballots are cast and counted, we should not be complacent. If you want change, you have to go and vote for the change,” he concluded.

NDC Sacks Two Constituency Executives In Lawra

Two Constituency Executives in the Lawra Constituency of the Upper West Region have been sacked from the party for endorsing nomination forms of the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area Samson Abu who is now contesting the seat as an independent candidate.

In a release signed by Joshua Lotaa the constituency Chairman, it disclosed that the constituency Women Organizer Hajia Bintu Alhassan and the Constituency Communications Officer Peter Assibi Kaayir, cease to be members of the NDC.

According to him, both officers have breached the party’s constitution and therefore should desist from holding themselves as either executives or members of the NDC demanding that they immediately return on all party property in their possession.

Samson Abu who lost during the NDC constituency primary last year it would be recalled, was among 23 members who were sacked from the party for filing to contest the December 7 polls as independent parliamentary candidates.

Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia who is the General Secretary of the NDC in a statement, indicated that all 23 including the Member of Parliament (MP) for Lawra Samson Abu of breached articles 8(d,f); 45( a,b,c &e) and 46(10) of the party’s constitution.

“The affected persons by their conduct and on their own volition have ceased to be members of the party”

STATEMENT: Amidu Drops BOMBSHELL...Dares Gov't & Prez Mahama

Former Attorney General, Martin Amidu, has alleged that the current Attorney General (AG), Marietta Brew Appiah Oppong, withdrew her application to examine embattled businessman, Alfred Agbesi Woyome over the GHC51 million judgement debt saga, because President Mahama personally gave an order.

The Citizen Vigilante, as he is often-times referred to, in a statement issued to the media moments after filing the application at the Supreme Court to personally examine Mr. Woyome, argued that the AG backtracked in order to protect some National Democratic Congress (NDC) officials, who benefited from the GHc51 million paid Mr. Woyome by the state as judgment debt.

In my application I filed today [November 4, 2016], I made use of information provided to me that: ‘….when the Judgment Debtor was served with the order of the Court, he went to inform the NDC of which he is a member and financier; and the incumbent Government, in particular the Attorney General and the President personally, that should the order applied for by the Government for his examination be not discontinued, he will have no option at his appearance at the Court than to disclose truthfully and faithfully to the Court on oath the names of all NDC and Government beneficiaries of the judgment debt, which was paid to him as a result of the unconstitutional conduct of the Attorney General declared in the decision of this Court.’”

“I have also stated the information available to me and my belief that: ‘the NDC and the Government realizing the power of this Court pursuant to its order granted for the examination of the 3rd Defendant/Respondent/Judgment Debtor to ‘order the judgment debtor or officer to produce any books or documents in the possession of the judgment debtor relevant to these questions at the time and place appointed for the examination’ took to panic resulting in the President instructing the Attorney General upon her own advice to him to discontinue the application for examination of the judgment debtor which the Court had already ordered,” Mr. Amidu added.

According to the one-time Attorney-General in the erstwhile Mills' adminstration, if given the chance “the good people of Ghana will hear and see the beneficiaries of the unconstitutional judgment debt in the NDC and this Government.”

He further challenged President Mahama to allow his examination of Mr. Woyome to commence if government has nothing to hide.

Gargantuan crimes were indeed committed as I stated in 2012. Corruption is trying to prevent the public from hearing the whole story from the horse’s own mouth. I challenge the honesty and integrity of the President and the Government to allow the examination of its financier, the Judgment Debtor, Alfred Agbesi Woyome to proceed without hindrance if they have nothing to hide.

AMIDU APPLIES TO THE SUPREME COURT TO EXAMINE ALFRED AGBESI WOYOME THE JUDGMENT DEBTOR – BY MARTIN A. B. K. AMIDU

Today, spurred on by agitations from the public who are protesting against the lack of probity, accountability and transparency on the part of the Government in purporting to discontinue the Government’s application and consequential order granted by the Supreme Court on 19th October 2016 (ordering Alfred Agbesi Woyome to appear before the Court on Thursday 10th day of November, 2016 at 9: 00 am in the forenoon to be examined orally on Oath to ascertain whether he as the 3rd Defendant/Judgment Debtor has any property or other means of satisfying the Judgment), I have this morning 4th November 2016 filed an application at the Supreme Court for leave to examine the Judgment Debtor as the citizen public interest Plaintiff in favour of whom the case was decided for the Republic of Ghana.

I have examined the circumstances surrounding the Government’s reluctance to enforce the judgment and orders of the Court with the seriousness which the matter deserves. I share the view expressed by objective and reasonable members of the public that because the Government was the 1st Defendant/Respondent against whom the Supreme Court made declarations of unconstitutional conduct in paying the judgment debt to Alfred Agbesi Woyome the Government has been pretending for purely political reasons at each turn to take steps to enforce the judgment and orders of the Court only to deliberately abort them. I agree that the Government’s objective has always been to create the appearance and impression in the minds of the unsuspecting public that it is complying with the enforcement orders. The Attorney General’s latest application to discontinue the Government’s application to examine its financier, Alfred Agbesi Woyome, is one more such trick to deceive the public and obstruct the course of justice.

In my application I filed today, I made use of information provided to me that: ‘….when the Judgment Debtor was served with the order of the Court he went to inform the NDC of which he is a member and financier and the incumbent Government, in particular the Attorney General and the President personally, that should the order applied for by the Government for his examination be not discontinued he will have no option at his appearance at the Court than to disclose truthfully and faithfully to the Court on oath the names of all NDC and Government beneficiaries of the judgment debt which was paid to him as a result of the unconstitutional conduct of the Attorney General declared in the decision of this Court.’

The full application can be found on my website at martinamidu.com.

I would like to assure all public spirited Ghanaians that should I be given the opportunity to examine the Judgment Debtor, Alfred Agbesi Woyome, in Court the good people of Ghana will hear and see the beneficiaries of the unconstitutional judgment debt in the NDC and this Government. I have also stated the information available to me and my belief that: ‘the NDC and the Government realizing the power of this Court pursuant to its order granted for the examination of the 3rd Defendant/Respondent/Judgment Debtor to “order the judgment debtor or officer to produce any books or documents in the possession of the judgment debtor relevant to these questions at the time and place appointed for the examination” took to panic resulting in the President instructing the Attorney General upon her own advice to him to discontinue the application for examination of the judgment debtor which the Court had already ordered.’

T.B. Joshua In Ghana To Spiritually 'Rig' Election For Mahama - Owusu-Bempah

Founder and leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministry International Rev. Isaac Owusu-Bempah has stated that popular Nigerian pastor and leader of the Synagogue Church of All Nations T.B. Joshua is in Ghana to help 'rig' the 2016 elections in favour of president John Dramani Mahama.

Speaking to Good Evening Ghana's Paul Adom-Otchere, the controversial man of God said among others that several plans by chair of the Electoral Commission Charlotte Osei as well as Nigerian pastor T.B Joshua to help president Mahama win the elections in December will come to not because God is angry with John Mahama.

Prophet Owusu-Bempah said "There's a man of God from Nigeria in town, he's here for nothing. The power he came with is too small, nothing he plans on doing here will work."

"If Ghanaians make a mistake and allow John Mahama to win this year's elections, the calamity that will befall the country will be unheard of. Mark it on the wall. God is angry with Mahama... he has blood on his hands" the controversial man of God stated.

Isaac Owusu Bempah's comments come at a time when pastor and leader of the International God's Way Church Daniel Obinim has indicated that he has the spiritual ability to rig the country's polls for any party of his choice.

OccupyGhana: A-G Running From Woyome Case Because Accomplices In Gov't Would Be Exposed

Pressure Group OccupyGhana has accused the Attorney General of discontinuing a case at the Supreme Court against businessman, Alfred Agbesi Woyome in order to protect his accomplices in the controversial GHc 51 million judgment debt saga.

OccupyGhana in response has said Woyome would be compelled to disclose how he spent OUR MONEY, because the answer to that question would reveal the names of all the persons who benefitted from OUR MONEY.

"There is a current attempt by the Attorney-General of the Republic of Ghana to abandon or discontinue the current recovery steps being taken to compel Alfred Woyome to disclose where his assets are and possibly how he disbursed the GH₵ 51,000,000 of OUR MONEY, so that it can be returned to Ghana," the statement read.

The Attorney General’s Department has filed a notice at the Supreme Court to discontinue a case it filed about a week ago against businessman, Alfred Agbesi Woyome, in the controversial GHc51 million judgment debt saga.

The notice of discontinuance stated that “please take notice that the 1st Defendant Judgment Creditor [Attorney General] herein has this day [26th Day of October 2016] discontinued the present application to orally examine the 3rd Defendant Judgment Debtor [Alfred Agesi Woyome] with liberty to reapply.” Per the earlier notice, the Attorney General would have orally examined Mr. Woyome on November 10, 2016; a decision pressure group, OccupyGhana lauded.

Background

Alfred Woyome was paid ¢51 million after he claimed that he helped Ghana to raise funds to construct stadia for purposes of hosting the CAN 2008 Nations Cup. However an Auditor General’s report released in 2010, said the amount was paid illegally to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) financier.

The Supreme Court in 2014 ordered Mr. Woyome to pay back ¢51 million fraudulently taken from the state, after Mr. Martin Amidu, a former Attorney General challenged the legality of the judgment debt paid the businessman, Waterville, and Isofoton.

Following delays in retrieving the money, the Supreme Court judges unanimously granted the Attorney-General clearance to execute the court’s judgment ordering Mr. Woyome to refund the cash to the state.

Read OccupyGhana's Full Statement Below:

OccupyGhana is shocked, horrified and disgusted to discover that, as we suspected and feared, there is a current attempt by the Attorney-General of the Republic of Ghana to abandon or discontinue the current recovery steps being taken to compel Alfred Woyome to disclose where his assets are and possibly how he disbursed the GH₵ 51,000,000 of OUR MONEY, so that it can be returned to Ghana.

We have seen a “Notice of Discontinuance” filed by the Attorney-General on 26th October 2016, “discontinuing the present application to orally examine” Woyome.

It would be recalled that on 25th October 2016, we issued a statement pointing to the refreshingly far-reaching order of the Supreme Court directed at Woyome to appear and testify on his assets.

On the basis of the application moved and the order given, Woyome would be compelled by the court to make the following disclosures:
1. Whether there are any debts owing to him,
2. Whether he has any property for satisfying the judgment,
3. Whether he has any other means of satisfying the judgment, and
4. Whether he used the monies paid to him by the Republic of Ghana in any investments within or outside Ghana.

We can now reveal that we issued that statement because we had heard that after the order was obtained and served on Woyome, immense pressure was brought to bear on the Attorney-General’s Department to abandon that process.

The key concern, we learnt, had to do with Woyome being compelled to disclose how he spent OUR MONEY, because the answer to that question would reveal the names of all the persons who benefitted from OUR MONEY.

What we did not believe at the time was that on the very next day after our statement, the Attorney-General would so easily cave in to the pressure and abandon probably the only option left to Ghana to recover OUR MONEY from Woyome.

It is clear to us that this Government and its Attorney-General are either scared of Woyome or do not have the moral courage to pursue him for OUR MONEY.

We cannot forget that this Government deliberately bungled the civil case it reluctantly filed to claim the money from Woyome, and secretly paid the money to him at a time when that case was still pending, and when the court had allowed the Government to hold on to at least two-thirds of the money.

We cannot forget that but for the admirable and sacrificial vigilance and work of Mr. Martin Amidu, Woyome might never have been compelled to refund OUR MONEY. What we have seen, since that judgment, is probably the slowest, tardiest and most reluctant enforcement steps in this history of this nation.

Ghanaians are now being told that the affluent Woyome, who took and splurged OUR GH₵ 51,000,000 as if it was some pocket change, is now broke, has sold all his assets and there is nothing against which we can recover OUR MONEY.

This farcical and ludicrous position confirms that this Government has no interest in recovering OUR MONEY. We suspect that any attempt to trace those monies would make some persons in this Government very uncomfortable.

But if the Attorney-General thought that she had nailed this coffin and kissed OUR MONEY goodbye, she got this wrong; dead wrong.

Three reasons:

First, there is no pending application for one to be discontinued. That application has been moved and granted already. What there is now is a valid and subsisting order of the Supreme Court, which cannot be discontinued by any party. Until it is set aside or vacated by the Supreme Court itself, that order remains. We expect that on 10th November 2016, Woyome will still show up in court. If he refuses to show up, the Supreme Court could compel his attendance.

Second, technically, Woyome is a witness of the court, having been summoned on the orders of the court. Thus, even if the Attorney-General refuses to attend the 10th November 2016 proceedings to examine Woyome, the Supreme Court itself has the power to ask those relevant questions, and Woyome would be compelled to answer them and provide all the information required.

Third, and thank God, Mr. Martin Amidu is still alive and well, and is still a party to the court action. He has every right to appear in court on 10th November and seek the permission of the court to examine Woyome, whether the Attorney-General shows up or not.

While expressing our disgust at this shameful tactic, we are confident that the Supreme Court, which has proven to be the last bastion in the fight against corruption, will not let the people of this country down. Although the Supreme Court may be our last hope, we encourage all well-meaning Ghanaians to make their voices heard on this.

Ultimately, we own this nation and elect leaders to serve us. When those leaders fail us, we need to speak up and compel them by the sheer force of our existence and convictions, to act. May this be another defining and watershed moment when the people of Ghana rise up, again and in unison, to demand that the right thing is done.

We need *OUR MONEY* back. *WE OWE THAT TO POSTERITY!!*

Mahama Not Scared Of Nduom - Rashid Pelpuo.

The National Democratic Congress legislator for the Wa Central constituency, Rashid Pelpuo has said President John Maham is not scared of any presidential candidate in the December 7 general elections, not even the flagbearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom.

According to him, President Mahama has won the hearts of many Ghanaians with his ‘changing lives, transforming Ghana’ agenda hence would be retained in December 7 to continue his good works.

“Actually President Mahama doesn’t have a problem and the NDC doesn’t have a problem with anybody coming on the fray.”

“We have done enough for Ghanaians to see and Ghanaians have shown commitment with us. if you see all the people following us and all the comments being made by supporters of NDC and well-wishers, you would see that Ghanaians have grown beyond the fact that people go into the presidential race with ideas which sometimes are not practicable, we are have demonstrated practicability and we have shown that we can do it and is evident for everybody to see. We are not threatened by Dr. Nduom, not NPP, not PNC; we not threatened by anybody at all,” he added.

Mr. Pelpuo made the comment on Citi FM’s news analysis programme, The Big Issue when the Progressive People’s Party’s (PPP) victory against the Electoral Commission in court was being discussed.

The EC disqualified about 13 presidential nominees from this year’s election citing issues with their nomination forms; a decision some of the political parties are protesting in court.

Meanwhile, an Accra High Court which heard the PPP’s case ordered the EC to allow the party to correct errors in their nomination forms.

Pelpuo also noted that the PPP’s victory shows that Ghana’s democracy has matured.

“Yesterday’s ruling was a landmark ruling that tells about the fact that our courts are working, rule of law is part of our lives and that our democracy is alive and kicking and that at any point in time we can be confident that we have a court to rely on and that when people feel aggrieved by decisions by an arm of government or a constitutional body, they can always appeal and have hearing and sometimes can have their grievances addressed in their favour. So it was a good time for us to celebrate our democracy and to also celebrate our courts,” he added.

“Mahama Has Already Lost” – Biakoye Chief

The Gyaasehene of Abotoase, Nana Ansah Asiedu, has appealed to the 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, to resume the payment of compensations due them as a result of the construction of the Volta Lake, which continues to claim their lands.

His request to Nana Akufo-Addo is borne out of the fact that, “President Mahama is already gone. He has lost the elections.”

Nana Ansah Asiedu made this known when the NPP flagbearer paid a courtesy call on him at his palace in Abotoase, in the Biakoye constituency, on Monday, October 24, 2016.

The Abotoase Chief explained that under the resettlement package, which was instituted by a Legal Instrument passed by Parliament, “compensation payments commenced under President Kufuor.

The late President Mills continued with these payments. However, upon assuming office, President Mahama has decided to stop paying compensation to us.”

Funds from the resettlement package, according to Nana Ansah Asiedu, were used in the construction of the only institution of higher learning in the town, the Aboatse Senior High and Technical school.

The cessation of payment of compensation to them, he added, has led to the Chiefs and people seeking redress at the courts.

“Maybe, before he exits power, he will still decide not to pay us compensation. Nonetheless, he will go (in December). He has no choice but to go. So we are appealing to you (Nana Akufo-Addo) to resume the payments of compensation when you come into office in Jamuary 2017 because it is the means by which some of my people survive,” the Abotoase Chief added.

We Are All Not NDC - Volta Chief.

Claims that “all Voltarians” belong to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is factually inaccurate, a senior divisional chief of the Peki Traditional area, Togbe Agamela VI has said.

According to the chief, some members of the traditional council belong to other parties including the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Addressing the presidential candidate of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo, during his tour of the Volta Region, Togbe Agamela VI, said some of them are sympathizers of the NPP and declared his support for Nana Addo.

Expressing his gratitude to the chief, Akufo-Addo said the NPP’s call for change was based on the fact that the performance of the NDC government in the last eight years has been nothing but a monumental failure.

He accused President John Mahama of supervising unbridled corruption and collapsing all the social intervention programmes initiated by the erstwhile John Agyekum Kufuor administration.

“He [Mahama] has been in power for eight years, and in the era of the eight years apart from the Green Book, we don’t really know what else he is really able to do,” Akufo-Addo told the chief and his subjects.

“The time, has come for us to put people in office who are cable of ruling this country and leading effective and efficient government so that we can make progress in our country,” he added.

He reiterated his pledge to ensure rapid development of the country when voted for come December 7, urging the people to ditch the governing NDC government.

EC Drags Ayariga To CID.

The woes of Hassan Ayariga, presidential aspirant of the All People’s Congress (APC), are not yet over, as the Electoral Commission (EC) has reported him to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over a number of alleged criminalities he is said to have committed.

EC says the APC leader obtained his doctorate degree from a non-existent or unrecognized institution, among others.

Ayariga had insulted the EC chairperson, Charlotte Osei, calling her names after his disqualification from the presidential race was announced last week.

According to the EC, it detected about 30 anomalies, some bordering on criminality, which necessitated referring the APC leader’s case to the CID for investigations.

Ayariga had requested that the EC should return his forms to him to expunge the errors and replace them with new pages.

The commission indicated that the university in Spain cited by Hassan Ayariga in his nomination forms as his alma mater is non-existent, according to its search records.

A letter to the APC leader dated 18th October, 2016, titled: “Ref: Rejection Of Nomination As Presidential CANDIDATE Dr. Hassan Ayariga,” signed by Charlotte Osei, and copied to the Head of CID, a copy of which has been obtained from sources, stated in part, “Your personal records indicate that you attended Great Achievers University of Spain and you qualified with a PhD in Political Science in December 2014.

“However, we cannot find the said university and we would presume does not exist. However, there is a Great Achievers International Theological Seminary in Spain, which from our checks, does not award PhDs in Political Science. Please be advised further that an Honorary Doctorate Degree is not an educational qualification as required and stated on your nomination forms.”

The EC also pointed out that the inaccurate and false statements/submissions on Mr Ayariga’s personal records could be grounds for criminal prosecution.

“In addition, the signatures of some of your subscribers are questionable in our view (please see pages, 31, 104, 111, 108, 110) and require further investigation. Consequently, these and the other issues raised in this letter would be referred to the Ghana Police Service for further investigations,” EC averred.

Request

Mr Ayariga, in a letter dated 17th October, 2016, had requested that the commission allow him to replace pages in his nomination forms, which the EC found unacceptable.

But the EC replied that it was unable to allow him to illegally and surreptitiously change pages in his already submitted nomination forms.

“Please be further advised that changes to nomination forms can only be legally made within the stipulated nomination period (See C.l. 94 Regulation 9 (2) and ‘Guide to Candidates and their Agents’ issued this year by the Commission).

“You would recall that after your submission on September 29, 2016, approximately 30 anomalies were detected on your nomination forms, and you were given the opportunity to correct same. With regards to the names of subscribers which you seek to substitute, those subscribers are clearly in breach of Regulation 7 (a) of C.1.94.

The law clearly states that ‘a person shall not nominate more than one candidate in a presidential election,” EC submitted.

According to the commission, such breach of the law was clearly not an anomaly that could be detected within the nomination period.

“By itself, such an irregularity can only be discovered when nominations have closed. Accordingly, the burden to do due diligence is therefore on the nominee to ensure that his nomination forms are subscribed to by persons with the requisite integrity who do not endorse more than one candidate.

“In addition, we wish to point out that our letter of October 7, 2016 specifying the grounds for your disqualification was not exhaustive of the infractions of the law contained in your forms,” the EC stated.
