N.P.P Formal Chairman- " I Am Sad For My Party ".
Peter Mac Manu, a distinguish former National Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP] says he always feels miserable when the party he once led is exposed to bad publication in the media. Mac Manu who has been tipped to lead Nana Addo’s 2016 campaign seek to know why the ‘Elephant’ fraternity is still not “united” – despite been known as the Danquah-Busia-Dombo Tradition party.
“I am very sad for the NPP,” – he told Kasapa FM. The NPP is yet to resolve some internal wrangling within the party – some key members of the party seems to have issues with others, a situation that has led to the party’s national chairman and its general secretary’s office in trouble over the past few months. The former chairman is however calling for a “United” NPP to face the ruling NDC in the coming election – all issues within the party according to him must be solved amicably. The 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party commenced his month- long national tour last Thursday which saw him visiting the Volta Region, ahead of the commencement of the campaign for the 2016 general elections. Nana Akufo-Addo while on the visits will meet up with regional executives, constituency executives, and aspirants in the NPP parliamentary primaries, both winners and losers, in every region he visits. This is to prepare the party for a campaign that hopes to energize Ghanaians to help build and restore Ghana onto a path of progress and prosperity. However speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Kwabena Agyepong stated that though he has been unfairly treated for a long time, he had decided to remain quiet over such internal party issues.
He asserted out that the "deliberate orchestrated attempt in the media to discredit" him will not prevail. “They have tried to blame me for several things I have no idea about. I have tried all I can to advance the cause of Nana Addo but my efforts are not being appreciated. This is very disheartening and sad. "I have always tried to accompany Nana Addo everywhere he goes. You’ll recall that when the unfortunate incident happened at the Goil Filing station at Circle, I was there with Nana, but what you don’t know is that after we had planned to go there, the car which was to convey us to the incident scene took off before I got to our supposed meeting at the time we had agreed. I had to drive and rush to meet Nana Addo at Circle. The same thing happened when we were going to James Town, I had to find my way there.
"Again when we were going to Akropong to express our condolence over the death of Okuapiman Hene, Nana Addo Dankwa, though I had repeatedly informed the entourage that I was waiting for them at Aburi to make the journey together, to my utmost surprise Nana Addo’s convoy swiftly drove past me. Once again I had to meet them at Akropong alone. "What more can i do, I have a clear heart and I don’t hold anything against Nana Addo, the deliberate orchestrated attempt in the media to discredit me will fail" he lamented.
