Anas' Video Evidence On "Corrupt Judges" Leaves Viewers Flabbergasted.

 The much-awaited video documentary on the judicial corruption was premiered as the scheduled with mix reactions from the throng who packed the Accra International Conference Centre to witness the first show.

For many who watched the hyped “GHANA IN THE EYES OF GOD” three-hour video by world class investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his most powerful team – The Tiger Eye PI was certain that the much talked about corruption among some member of the bench was indeed real and far from fabrication.

Many high profile personalities including the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong was at the auditorium of the Conference Centre to perhaps watch the exposé for the first time.

Soon after the silvered surface where pictures of the “Epic Injustice” started rolling – the fully packed amphitheater was interrupted with the “Ooos” and the “Eeeeeis” when noble judges were captured nakedly taking briberies which included tubers of yam and goats.

Some viewers bowed down their heads – that is to signify the shameless act by the respected judges – others sees the exposé as “generation” thing which can’t be curbed now.

Rev. Emmanuel Asante, Chairman of the National Peace Council told Adom FM after the premiere that “Ghana is rotten and smelly.”

Some spectators also told Peacefmonline.com that the video is worrying – a lady whose family member was captured in the video was “depressed” and refused to comment.

However, others were absolutely not impressed with the entire production of the video with much nagging on sound quality and scanty subtitles.

They claim Anas’ productions on the international media, Al Jazeera is a master piece compared to Ghana.

A citizen who gave her name as Cynthia among others left the auditorium due to the poor ventilation – she however said watching the much hyped exposé was “boring”.

A freelance journalist and Editorial Board Member with Agoo Magazine, Solomon Mensah also argued that – “The undercover work was not supposed to be a Hollywood movie to have 3D pictures with good sound quality. We wanted to see what the judges did and we did.”

Beginning the 1st day of his 2-day tour of the Western Region in Sefwi Wiawso, on Wednesday, September 23, Nana Akufo-Addo, thus, called on the people of Ghana to “have confidence in me that I can lead a first class team of women and men to rebuild this country. As Ghanaians, we must have hope, for Ghana’s potential is enormous.”
He, however, admitted that considering the deep mess Ghana has been plunged into by the Mahama government – economic mismanagement, enterprise failures, widespread unemployment, high cost of living, unaffordable utility tariffs, rampant corruption, crises in health and education systems – many Ghanaians have, understandably, lost hope.
“When we tell some people we can do better as compared to what the current government is offering, they express some level of scepticism. They believe the poverty confronting our nation under this government is our destiny. It is never true. We can transform the fortunes of this country,” he stressed.
Citing the example of Cote d’Ivoire, a country ravaged by civil war and electoral disputes and currently witnessing a massive transformation under President Alassane Ouattara, Akufo-Addo is calling on Ghanaians to give him the opportunity to turn the fortunes of Ghana around.
The NPP flagbearer noted that though Ghana is bigger in land size and population, the export value of Ghana’s agriculture is $2 billion, whereas that of Ivorian agriculture is $12 billion. These figures speak volumes.
Additionally, Nana Akufo-Addo stated that Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana cultivate almost exactly the same land area for cocoa production - 1.7 million hectares. Yet in the just ending cocoa crop year 2014/2015, total production of cocoa in Cote d’Ivoire amounted to over 1.6 million metric tonnes whilst Ghana could barely manage 700,000 metric tonnes, less than half. With the right policies, we can rebuild the cocoa industry again, he said, just as happened under President Kufuor.
“In choosing a far-sighted, practical leader in Alassane Ouattara, Cote d’Ivoire, which, a short while ago, was involved in civil strife and bloody electoral disputes, is now experiencing a boom. We can do the same here in Ghana, and let us have the confidence that we can do it,” he added.

Improve relations with settler communities

With the predominant economic activity in the northern part of the Western Region being agriculture, with its attendant influx of settlers, Nana Akufo-Addo urged regional and constituency executives, as well as parliamentary candidates and their competitors from the 12 constituencies in the Sefwi Zone, to improve the party’s relations with the settler communities. The constituencies were Bia East, Bia West, Bodi, Juaboso, Sefwi Wiawso, Bibiani, Sefwi Akontombra, Suaman, Aowin, Amenfi West, Amenfi East and Amenfi Central.
Nana Akufo-Addo charged the party’s hierarchy in the region to take urgent and immediate steps towards improvement of relations with settler communities.
“If we improve our performance in Western North, we are going to be the majority party in the region again. We have to find a way to improve our relations with the settler communities in the Western Region. We have to do it,” he argued.
He continued, “We have to speak a proper language as the beginning. We need to speak a language of equality, a language of fraternity, a language of solidarity, of togetherness and oneness. This is the only way we can send our message to them. Let them know that we are not coming to trample on their rights as Ghanaians. I am not coming with any tribal agenda in Ghana, I am coming with a Ghanaian Agenda for all the people of Ghana.”

I will lead a first class team to rebuild Ghana - Akufo-Addo

The 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, says victory for the party in the 2016 general election is of the utmost necessity.

This according to him, will provide Ghanaians with the opportunity to rebuild a country that has every sector of its economy in tatters under the governing National Democratic Congress.

With the news of Ghana being classified as a ‘Highly Indebted Poor Country’ by the International Monetary Fund, again, under an NDC-led government, Nana Akufo-Addo is calling on Ghanaians not to lose hope, as Ghana’s potential, under right leadership, is enormous.

The NPP, according to Nana Akufo-Addo, as shown under the eight-year government of President Kufuor, has the track record of being able to turn around the fortunes of the country, evidenced in taking Ghana out of HIPC and transforming it into a Middle Income Country, within that short period.

Speaking at Sefwi Wiawso on the first day of his two-day tour of the Western Region, Nana Akufo-Addo called on Ghanaians to “have confidence in me that I can lead a first class team of women and men to rebuild this country. As Ghanaians, we must have hope, for Ghana’s potential is enormous.”

He said the NPP can do better as compared to what the current government is offering, adding “people believe that the poverty confronting our nation under this government is our destiny. It is never true. We can transform the fortunes of this country”.

Citing the example of Cote d’Ivoire, a country ravaged by civil war and electoral disputes and currently witnessing a massive transformation under President Alassane Ouattara, Akufo-Addo called on Ghanaians to give him the opportunity to turn the fortunes of Ghana around.

The NPP flagbearer noted that though Ghana is bigger in land size and population, the export value of Ghana’s agriculture is $2 billion, whereas that of Ivorian agriculture is $12 billion.

“These figures speak volumes”, he continued.

Nana Akufo-Addo stated that Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana cultivate almost exactly the same land area for cocoa production - 1.7 million hectares, yet in the just ended cocoa crop year 2014/2015, total production of cocoa in Cote d’Ivoire amounted to over 1.6 million metric tonnes whilst Ghana could barely manage 700,000 metric tonnes, less than half.

With the right policies, we can rebuild the cocoa industry again, he said, just as happened under President Kufuor.

“In choosing a far-sighted, practical leader in Alassane Ouattara, Cote d’Ivoire, which, a short while ago, was involved in civil strife and bloody electoral disputes, is now experiencing a boom. We can do the same here in Ghana, and let us have the confidence that we can do it,” he added.

'SADA Guinea Fowls Are Back'- CEO

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA), Mr. Charles Abugri has revealed that the guinea fowls that reportedly flew to neighboring Burkina Faso in the infamous SADA guinea fowl project scandal have started returning home.

It would be recalled that management of SADA last year made hilarious media headlines when they disclosed in one of their responses to the whereabouts of the hundreds of guinea fowls they claimed to be rearing that the birds had flown to Burkina Faso.

Their response followed fact finding visits by journalists to the facility where the animals were being reared by Asongtaba Cottage Industry at Sumbrungu near Bolgatanga in the Upper East region. The media during the numerous visits only spotted a handful of birds contrary to reports they were in hundreds in justification of the huge sums of money government sunk into the project.

The management at the time struggled to explain the whereabouts of the rest of the birds to the extent it was revealed they may have flown to an unknown destination in neighbouring Burkina Faso. But presenting SADA's development plan at the National Development Planning Commission public consultative forum in Tamale, Mr. Abugre assured Ghanaians that the guinea fowls have started returning to home.

'I can announce that those guinea fowls are on their way back from Burkina because I ate a few in Bolgatanga a few days ago,' he disclosed. The CEO indicated that the law that created SADA is not only centered on guinea fowls but other projects to inure to the benefit of the people within the SADA zone. According to him, there are three main objectives of the authority all geared towards alleviating the suffering of the people within the SADA zone.

One of the major objectives he indicated is prioritizing and providing strategic planning and guidance to government for the purpose of ensuring that development in the SADA zone is accelerated, integrated and comprehensive. Additionally, he noted it could trigger the pace of change in these areas rapid enough and faster than the national average so that there will be bridging of the gap between the north and the rest of the country.

The first major task Mr. Abugre added was planning and sourcing creative way to raise money and attract investments to the zone to accelerate the needed development. Support to the decentralized coordinating system particularly the regional coordinating councils (RCCs) he observed, is also key so that resources are harnessed and interventions achieved with the greatest impact.

To this end appealed to residents as well the business community to partner SADA in realizing its dream of developing the north which is noted for lagging behind; to catch up with the rest of already developed regions in the country.

Anas' Video Shows Ghana Is Rotten.

Chairman of the National Peace Council, Rev. Emmanuel Asante, says the video by Anas Aremeyaw Anas on the alleged 34 corrupt judges shows Ghana is "rotten, torn apart and smelly".

 He said this after he saw the three-hour video titled 'Ghana in the eyes of God', showing how judges, magistrates and other officials of various courts across the country allegedly sold justice for cash, goats, sheep and yam.

Rev. Asante was part of thousands of Ghanaians, including the Attorney-General Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong and other dignitaries who were at the premiering of the video that some of the alleged corrupt judges tried to place an injunction on.

 "It is painful watching men and women charged to protect our rights comprise themselves with such careless abandon. This clearly shows how our own doings has made this country rotten and smelly," he told Adom News.

He noted that it is a shame to see how judges have become slaves to money and have therefore created a systemic corruption across the courts of the country.

 "This is what we have seen and it shows that this is just the tip of the iceberg because it tells you corruption has eaten to the very core of our society and we need to wake up as a people and do something about it," he said.

 The National Peace Council Chair was however happy that not all the judges in the video have bowed to money. He said the few judges who refused to take bribes and actually threatened to the cause the arrest of the ‘bribe givers’ represent the hope that all is not lost yet.

Rev. Asante commended Anas for the taking the risk to expose the rot in the judiciary and in other facets of the society. He challenged all Ghanaians to emulate his example and be committed to taking the risk to fight corruption.

 "This is not the first time Anas has done this - it is risky to fight corruption but he continues to defy the risk - what about the rest of us? What can we also do to help clean our country of the systemic rot?" he asked.

 He urged the Judicial Council to deal decisively with those found culpable in the video to deter others from committing similar acts.

Meanwhile, there was a near stampede at the entrance of the main hall of the Accra Internaional Conference Centre – venue of the video – as the crowd tried to enter for the second show.

Ticketing officials were overwhelmed and loads of people had to enter without showing their tickets because the crowd was just too much for them to handle.

 The ticketing officials tried to close the door and check tickets but the ecstatic crowd virtually pushed them off and entered the hall to secure seats.

The auditorium was packed to capacity, with extra seats provided.

Audience were awed by one display of corruption after another, from judges and court officials in the northern part of the country to the south -- some of them accepting money, goats, sheep and yam in their homes, offices and in their cars to alter judgements.

 Some were actually caught on cameras half naked, as they wore only shorts when they met their bribe givers.

Some of the audience got tired of the repetitive display of the faces of the alleged corrupt judges and they left, leaving quite a significant number of empty seats in the hall.
