Share this story: But for the timely intervention of security personnel, the Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, Alhaji Collins Dauda and Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Eric Opoku would have been lynched by some irate youth at Nkoranza. The action was triggered by what they say is the Regional Minister’s failure to help them redeem their monies from DKM and God is Love Fun Club. God is Love Fun Club and DKM are part of a number of financial institutions banned by the Bank of Ghana for operating without permit. Since the ban took effect, persons who invested in the companies have appealed to various authorities to help them recover monies they saved in them but their calls have fallen on deaf ears. They have even decided to boycott the upcoming District Assembly Elections and have called on the dreaded Kumasi deity ‘Antoa Nyamaa’ to punish anyone in the town who would cast a vote in the upcoming elections. So when the two men, according to local radio station Achiaa FM’s reporter Kwame Bamfo Agyei, came on a working visit at the Nkoranza Municipal Assembly, the youth took advantage to vent their spleen. Kwame Agyei said the machete wielding youth acting on behalf of persons who saved with the financial companies stormed the Assembly, held Ahaji Collins Dauda and Eric Opoku hostage and vowed to stay until their monies are paid them. The Ministers managed to escape with the help of their security men and sped off in their cars leaving the media who went with them behind, according to the reporter. Kwame Bamfo Agyei added that since the Regional Minister and his colleague were able to escape, the youth are holding the media hostage until their demands are met. He said the irate youth have vowed to detain the journalists until their monies are retrieved from the two micro-finance companies.

Ghanaian Girl Joins ISIS.

A Ghanaian female Shakira Mohammed is also reported to have joined terrorist organization, Islamic State (IS). Refusing to go beyond this scanty detail about the female ISIS disciple as their investigations gather momentum, National Security managers yesterday told selected editors in a maiden engagement since the ISIS story broke out, to be circumspect in their reportage on the subject. Daily Guide has gathered from other sources however, that the lady in question hails from the northern part of the country and was until her departure domiciled in Tema. National Security Coordinator, Yaw Donkor, assured the nation that although the number of those joining the ranks of the dreaded terrorist organization could rise, "there is no reason to fear. The ISIS recruitment could go up instead of coming down but currently the number of those who have joined them is only a handful". He added that social media are the main means of reaching out to those subscribing to the ISIS mentality. Another reason why there should not be excessive fear about ISIS threat in the country is that, "the current direction is outward. It is only when they are returning that we should worry." He confirmed that 25-year-old graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Nazir Nortei Alema and another man called Rafik have joined the terrorist group. Giving a useful insight into the subject, he said the National Security Council was probing some tertiary institutions - "suspect institutions" - as he put it, but explained that not all tertiary institutions are on the internet. Sources of Recruitment Public tertiary institutions have so far been sources of recruitment for ISIS, Daily Guide has gathered the national security apparatus has directed its attention to these locations in its continuing investigations. Mr Yaw Donkor, exuding a reassuring confidence as he was supported by the National Security Advisor, Baba Kamara, cautioned the media and Ghanaians in general against stereotyping when dealing with the ISIS issue because "we are all potential recruits." The issue, he urged, should not be limited to the Islamic community because it goes beyond that, adding that even before matters got to this stage the National Security Council had undertaken outreach programmes to alert people about the security threats posed by religious zealots. While pointing at the negative role of the social media in the matter under review, the National Security Coordinator explained that not all members of such groups share extremist views. ISIS recruits use countries such as Burkina Faso or Niger for their onward journey to their final destination of either Syria or Turkey. Yaw Donkor disclosed that there is a school in Niger where ISIS recruits undergo preliminary training before departure to their final destinations. Telltale demeanours About the telltale demeanours of ISIS sympathizers, the security capo said some of them do not show marked changes while others do. Badhan Diallo, the Guinean alleged to be the brain behind the recruitment of Ghanaian ISIS disciples for instance, did not spot any changes in his demeanour, Mr Donkor said. Some, he went on, show changes such as withdrawing into themselves, growing beard and spotting turbans. "Close associates can pick up unusual traits and tell Imams or pastors," he entreated. A number of challenges bedevil national security operations regarding the subject under review, he said, as he pointed at the non-existence of a relevant law to deal with it. ISIS disciples become potential terrorists only when they leave the country, explaining that when such persons are here little or nothing is known about them until they depart. Under such circumstances he asked, "What do we do?" The challenges not withstanding, Mr Yaw Donkor and the National Security Advisor (Baba Kamara) posted sufficient and convincing knowledge about the subject and their being on top of it. Baba Kamara Baba Kamara said the details as contained in the Daily Guide, are already known to the National Security Council, adding circumspection and discretion should be applied when reporting on subjects with national and international security implications. Ghanaians who have so far joined ISIS are Nazir Nortei Alema, Abubakar Mohammed, Shakira Mohammed. Meanwhile, the real nationality of Bedhan Diallo is not known. Although he is said to have attended secondary school and university in Ghana, some reports claim he is a Guinean. It took the report on the departure of Nazir Nortei Alema for the lid to be removed over the ISIS recruitment drive in Ghana. - See more at: http://viasat1.com.gh/news/local/article.php?postId=8083#sthash.qRfHFfVs.w7g5zsFr.dpuf Source: Daily Guide

Kotoko Leave Camp For Secondi-Takoradi

Players and officials of Kotoko have left their camping base in Kumasi for the twin city of Sekondi-Takoradi ahead of Sunday’s MTN FA Cup final against Medeama at Essipong Stadium. The Porcupines are in their fourth FA Cup final since the competition bounced back in 2011 after a decade’s break. Kotoko were champions in the 2014 competition and the fabulous lads are looking forward to a successful title defence this year especially when a similar ambition in the league has failed. Kotoko and Medeama have played twice in the league this season. Both matches ended in a draw. While the Kumasi game was 1-1, that of Tarkwa was goalless. Without disagreement, many see Sunday’s clash as one that could tell which of the two teams is the best. For Coach David Duncan who joined Kotoko seven matches into the 2014/15 season, the cup final means a lot him as victory would cap what has been a reasonably good work, which has seen him lifting Kotoko from 13th to 3rd position in the league with two matches to end the season. NPP Sue Editor Of News Paper 1million cedis.

The National Treasurer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Abankwah-Yeboah has filed a suit at an Accra Fast Track High Court against the editor of al-Hajj newspaper, Alhaji Bature Iddrisu, for libel. The treasurer is claiming È»1 million as aggravated damages from Alhaji Bature as well as Harzet Company Limited, publishers of the al-Hajj newspaper for 'loss of reputation.' According to the plaintiff, who has Gary Nimako Marfo of Safo & Marfo @ Law as his counsel, the defendants had accused him in a publication that he operated a secret bank account belonging to the NPP but could not account for the proceeds. Mr. Abankwah-Yeboah is seeking a declaration that the banner headline of Thursday, August 13, 2015 in the al-Hajj - "Police probe: NPP Treasurer confesses - È»6 million in 'secret account," is defamatory. He wants a further declaration that "the publication by the defendants that the plaintiff cannot properly account for nearly È»l million belonging to the NPP is defamatory" and was "without any justification or probable cause." "A declaration that the entire publication of the defendants about the plaintiff is libelous as same was published without any lawful, reasonable or probable cause," the plaintiff sought. He is also seeking an injunction to restrain the defendants from further publishing defamatory stories about him and an order directed at the defendants to retract and apologise for the publication in the same prominence as the original story. According to Mr. Abankwah-Yeboah, the defendants had said in the publication that nearly È»l million out of the È»6 million could not be properly accounted for and that some of the party's finance committee members were pushing for the case to be reported to the CID since it was a criminal offence. The plaintiff is averring that he "understands the banner headline to mean that he is somebody who is criminally minded and has secretly kept funds meant for the NPP without the knowledge of the executives of the party. "The plaintiff understands the assertion that È»l million cannot be properly accounted for by him to mean that he has embezzled party funds thereby warranting investigation to be conducted by the police as it's being alleged by the said publication." The plaintiff is insisting that the entire publication is 'false' and that he is not under any police investigation/probe for embezzling funds meant for the NPP, adding that the party has no secret account and as the National Treasurer, he is the custodian of the party's funds and is obliged under the constitution of the party, to account for his stewardship to the stakeholders of the party at the end of his tenure of office. He further said he had never been arrested or invited by the police to assist in any investigation in respect of any secret account or alleged embezzled È»l million funds belonging to the NPP. BNI Chases N.P.P Chairman.

Leaders of the NDC in the Ashanti Region have filed a complaint at the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) against NPP Regional Chairman over alleged false accusation against First Lady, Lordina Mahama. A Daily Guide publication on Monday cited Bernard Antwi Boasiako of having slammed Mrs. Mahama for allegedly presiding over an NDC meeting in Kumasi to hatch a plan to discredit the NPP. He alleged in the paper that discussion at the said meeting pointed to a plan by NDC activists to dress in NPP colours and attack the head potters. The planned action, according to the report, is to create hatred and disaffection for the NPP ahead of the 2016 elections. However, NDC Regional Secretary, Raymond Tandoh, says the allegation is frivolous and therefore the party has officially reported the matter to security agencies for investigation. He claims the party has strong evidence to indicate the NPP has planned to carry out such evil act and have decided to go public first rather to point accusing fingers at the NDC in order to deceive the public. Reacting to the issue on Kroyi mu nsem on Nhyira fm, Mr. Antwi Bosiako also known as Chairman Wontumi sais the NDC has no locus to report him to the BNI. He says he stands by his word, and dares the Office of the First Lady to publicly deny the allegation. Source:modernghana.com

President Mahama Is Joking.......

The 2012 flagbearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom says he is not convinced by President John Mahama’s promise of ‘banishing’ Ghana’s energy problem, popularly known as Dumsor, by the end of this year. His claim, he said is based on his conviction that Ghana’s energy problem is much more deep-seated than thought and it would take more time to tackle it even if the country seeks to build more power barges. “The power problem we have would not be solved before the end of four years…if somebody tells me that this power problem would be solved this year, I know they are not serious…even if you build power barges, it would take three to four years to build,” he said on Accra-based Citi FM. President John Dramani Mahama has promised to banish the problem which is crippling Ghana’s industrial sector by the close of this year. “2015 will be one in which we banish darkness from our land and put an end to dumsor forever…,” President Mahama said during a 31st December, 2014 All Night at the Perez Dome in Dzorwulu. Power Minister, Kwabena Donkor also promised to do same by the end of 2015 promising further to resign if he fails to deals with it. "At least the end of the year is December so you can hold me to that…yes I will resign…," he said. But these promises, the former Energy Minister under the erstwhile Kufour administration indicated are unconvincing especially as he believes Ghana’s problem is deeper than Ghanaians are being told. Dr Nduom further called on President John Mahama to stop paying lip service and come out with the truth concerning the crisis so that Ghanaian businessmen would brace themselves up for the crisis. “We must not play politics with power…when there is a plan, we must follow it and tell people that it needs long term solutions…Mahama must be bold and tell Ghanaians the truth, so that when there is a long term plan, we follow it…I am a businessman so I would brace myself for it,” he said. According to him, the power crisis can be tackled head on by 2019 if "we start doing the right thing in the energy sector" adding that production of power through power barges is only one leg of solving the problem. The other legs, he said, involve the transmission of power which would take several years because it would take time to fix the equipment at GRIDCo and VRA which are weak as a result of several decades of usage. He therefore reiterated that there was the need for the President to be truthful to Ghanaians on the power crisis. Source:peacefmonline.com

Doctors Strike Is Illegal; We Can't Single Out One Group.... And Accede To Their Demands.. Prez Mahama Talk Tough.

"Nobody must die because of an illegal strike, the strike is illegal, absolutely illegal," - President Mahama said during an interview with Uniq FM on Wednesday. Lauding moves to deny striking doctors their August salary, President John Dramani Mahama indicated that the planned action falls in line with the Labour laws and will be enforced to ensure sanity. “The labour law says that nobody should negotiate under duress, and that is what has led us to where we've always come back to...And its's not on doctors alone who are in the business of giving health to people, we have the nurses, we have the midwives, we have the X-ray technicians, we have the laboratory technicians, we have the pharmacists, we even have the cleaners..." Speaking to State broadcaster Uniq FM to mark World Youth Day, President Mahama questioned why doctors are on strike over conditions government is making efforts to fulfil – “It’s the first time being introduced [conditions of service], so it takes a process”. “We can’t single out one group of the health workers and accede to those demands...it’s not as simple as it is,” he added. The president further described the Ghana Medical Association's ongoing strike as “illegal” – after insisting that they must end it - “We are taking remedial actions, and I say they should go back”. "Even before negotiations begun they declared strike. Nobody must die as a result of an illegal strike. The doctors strike is illegal…The doctors must go back to work while negotiations continue in good faith,” he said. Members of the GMA have insisted that they will not return to work unless government provides them with their conditions of service. The striking doctors are yet to resume work after declaring their nationwide strike two weeks ago. But the president countered that “If we don’t live by our laws we’ll go back to the jungle” whiles stressing that their demands are being negotiated. "It's not about 2,800 doctors, it's about another 5,900 and something who are waiting to see what the linkages are and say alright you gave doctors this, we too are demanding this and they can also go on strike," he told the state broadcaster. Arthur Kennedy Writes To Prez Mahama.

Politician, author and physician, Dr Arthur Kobina Kennedy believes while President Mahama’s remarks on the demands by doctors for improved service conditions appear consistent with his “dead goat philosophy”, his “posture is unfortunate.” Read Dr. Kennedy’s open letter below. MR. PRESIDENT, NEGOTIATE AND SAVE LIVES Irmo, South Carolina 9TH August, 2015 Your Excellency, RE: NEGOTIATING WITH THE DOCTORS I have read with alarm, your comments regarding the curtailment of services by Ghanaian doctors. While your remarks appear consistent with your “dead goat philosophy”, your posture is unfortunate. To add to your remarks, NDC officials and communicators have taken to the airwaves to applaud your posture, to belittle the doctors and to openly call for replacing them with Cubans. These developments are delaying, unfortunately, the difficult negotiations that must occur to halt the needless loss of lives. The Cuban solution, considering cost and the language barriers that reduce their effectiveness, is spiteful and wasteful diversion. Mr. President, every day that this crisis is not resolved will take a toll--- in lives—the lives of innocent citizens. In this case, your Excellency, TIME IS LIFE! Sir, you have sworn an oath to dedicate yourself to the “service and well-being of the people “and the doctors have sworn to “first, do no harm” to people. Both you and the Doctors must live up to your oaths. I know you care about the lives of the innocents caught in this cross-fire. I know that the Doctors are led by a man who takes his oath to do no harm seriously. I know because when I worked with you to resolve an earlier strike by Doctors, you conveyed that to me in the strongest terms. I also know of Dr. Opoku Adusei’s unbending commitment to medicine and his patients because he has expressed them to me and lived that commitment in my presence repeatedly. Your Excellency, regardless of the mistakes that may have been made in presenting their grievances, the doctors have legitimate grievances. How can you justify having people work for nearly a year without pay? How can those who care for others not have adequate provision for their care when they need it? I urge you to move expeditiously to resolve this crisis as only you can. While you must not negotiate out of fear, sir, you must never fear to negotiate. While you get down to the negotiating table, I urge you to silence and rebuke those in your party who have made this a partisan issue. Disease and death are not partisan and we must stop the pretense that there is partisan advantage to be gained from this crisis. Any politician, regardless of party, who puts partisan advantage ahead of the lives of Ghanaians is, quite simply, a traitor to Ghana. I commend to your Excellency and the leaders of the doctors, the words of Isaiah 1:18 “Come, let us reason together”. Finally, when this crisis is over, Mr. President, lead a national conversation on the crisis in healthcare and on the labour front. Is it time to abandon the Single Spine Salary System? Is there a need to look at additional revenues for NHIS, including an increase in existing taxes and the raising of new revenue--- from health professionals who were educated by Ghana and are practicing elsewhere? May God bless you. May God bless Ghana. Let move forward, together! Sincerely, Your Vandal Mate, Arthur Kobina Kennedy His Excellency John Mahama, President of Ghana Jubilee House, Accra. The Failure Of Prez Mahama Doesn't Guarantee N.P.P Victory In 2016 Election. Nana Addo.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, has admonished members of his party to be mindful of the fact that the failings of President John Dramani Mahama and his National Democratic Congress government does not automatically guarantee victory for the NPP in the 2016 polls. According to Nana Akufo-Addo, despite every sector of the Ghanaian economy being on a downward spiral, coupled with the worsening standards of living of Ghanaians, “President Mahama and his government will do everything possible to cling onto power.” In view of this, and to ensure victory for the party in 2016, the NPP flagbearer is urging all members of the party to be guarded constantly by the need for unity of purpose to exist amongst the rank and file of party, whilst, at the same time, working hard in their respective polling stations and constituencies. Nana Akufo-Addo made these comments when newly elected parliamentary candidates from the Juaben constituency, on Tuesday, August 4, and Okaikoi North and Assin North constituencies, on Wednesday August 5, paid separate courtesy calls on him formally to introduce themselves to him, after their respective victories in the parliamentary primaries. “We should not think that because of the mismanagement of the Ghanaian economy, and the incompetence being displayed by this NDC government, the NPP will have an easy ride to power in 2016. The NDC is only interested in the next election and what they can get for themselves whilst in office, and will, therefore, not go down ‘without a fight’. They are not bothered about the suffering of the ordinary man,” Akufo-Addo said He continued, “We have a lot of work to do as a party, if victory is to be ours in 2016. Our victory in 2016 will not be an NPP victory, but victory for Ghana. The party in your constituency is looking up to you, the newly elected candidates, for leadership. Make your fellow aspirants who were not successful, a part of your campaign, and you can be assured of victory.” To every polling station and every household in their constituencies, he urged the parliamentary candidates to send the NPP’s message of hope, progress and prosperity for all Ghanaians under an Akufo-Addo government. “The NPP is coming back because we have a plan to develop this country, so we can bring progress and prosperity to all parts of Ghana. We are coming so the young people of our country can get work to do. We have the men and women who can give this country a first class government, because Ghana is entitled to be a prosperous nation, not a poor country,” he added. In concluding, Nana Akufo-Addo admonished the gathering, and indeed all NPP members, to desist from always resorting to the use of the media in airing out grievances pertaining to internal party issues. “We in the NPP, these days, always want to be in the news. We are always running to the media with our internal issues. Let me emphasise this once again. If there are things you have to say which are critical in nature, please let’s do so indoors. We must move away from always sending all our problems to the radio and the newspapers,” he said.

Am Not Regret And Will Not Apologise. Dr Frank Serebour.

General Secretary of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) Dr Frank Serebuor says he does not regret and will not apologise for calling a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) an “idiot”. “I don’t regret what I said and I will not apologise or retract my comments”, he said on Peace FM’s morning show, ‘Kokrokoo’. Doctors across the country have embarked on a strike to demand better conditions of service. They have shown a clear intent to resign en masse if government does not provide them with appropriate conditions of service. The situation has generated a lot of discussion in the media as several hospitals have started turning away patients due to the absence of doctors. During a discussion on Accra-based radio station, Hot FM on Friday, July 31, 2015, Dr Serebuor lashed out at Yeboah Boateng for accusing President of the GMA of instigating the strike by doctors for political reasons. Yeboah Boateng said “is Dr Poku-Adusei who has risen through the ranks to become the President of GMA telling us that he doesn’t know what is in their contract? They should quit the job. We are tired of them. I am serious about what I am saying." He claimed that the GMA is “doing this to make sure their private hospitals can flourish,” and described their demands as outrageous. “Some doctors even take salaries more than high court judges yet they are still complaining. They are not being fair to teachers who developed them to become doctors. It is not even about salary but rather end of service benefits; and they are on strike.” Dr Serebuor in a sharp rebuttal said among other things that “for all you know, this idiot in your studio receives free fuel, free call credit and free accommodation. Which public sector doctor has free accommodation? We pay rent to the government,” “Tell that idiot in the studio that he is not the one who decides what we should do. We decide for ourselves what we should do. If he is tired of us he can go anywhere and chew leaves which are also medicinal,” he fumed. He added that “it is sad that we have to do this to ourselves. I’m not sure all the doctors own private hospitals. Even the law does not allow you to work in the public sector and still own a medical facility of any kind. Occasionally, some doctors will use their free time to go and practice in some private hospitals but not all doctors”. Dr Serebuor said he wouldn’t apologise over the comments because “I was provoked”. Although he agreed that his comment was out of place and uncomplimentary, he stressed that “at a point in time, you need to let people know that you can descend to their level. “I won’t say anything like that again but I don’t regret saying it...I am not bothered about the reactions”. Meanwhile, the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has asked health insurance cardholders to revert to approved private health facilities for medical care. The Health Ministry has also ordered all heads of health facilities to stay at post to work with other non-striking staff during the period of the strike. It has directed ambulance services to remain on standby across the country to help coordinate emergency cases. Source: Myjoyonline.com

Philip Addison Can't Determine When Elections Should Be Held In NPP- Kwabena Agyapong.

The General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP], Kwabena Agyapong, has said Lawyer Philip Addison has no right to determine when elections should be held in the NPP. “He [Lawyer Addison] cannot determine elections. He is just to file for nomination and campaign. Then the election committee will fix a date for all aspirants,” he said. Kwabena Agyapong made this assertion after Lawyer Philip Addison, who lost in his bid to become the NPP’s 2016 Parliamentary candidate for the Korle Klottey Constituency in the Greater Accra Region accused the party national chairman, Paul Afoko and general secretary, Kwabena Agyapong of election malpractice. Lawyer Addison on NEAT FM described the elections as a “sham” and “shameful”; adding that the duo – “had already arranged for the winner of the election before the election day which was not even set. It was a one sided elections. It’s very shameful. The election was to come off on August 8, 2015”. Speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show "Ghana Montie", Kwabena Agyapong affectionately called in politics as “General 1” noted that the Accra-based lawyer's claims are baseless. He told host Kwesi Aboagye that; several dates was set for the primaries but was void due to court issues – “So if the court says we can vote, then it is only right for us to organize the elections at any time. The constituency executives agreed on the date before we held the elections so I don’t know why people are saying there was no consultations. They should read the guideline of the process”. “Everything was followed according to the letter. I will plead with them to bring unity into the party,” he advised. Environmental Preservation.

The most quoted scripture from the bible is John 3:16 "For God so love the world, that HE gave His only begotten Son to die, that whosoever believes in Him, should not die but have everlasting life." This is happens to be the simplest and explicit manifestation for God's love for all, but the least understood and practiced. Does it confirm the quote that "the people with the greatest virtue in their mouth, have the least in their bosoms" Jesus didn't only come to die for mankind but for the whole living things and organisms that make the world a better place. He died also for the animals so that they also will be redeemed from the bondage of creation at the revealing of the Lord of Glory and the manifestation of the Sons of God. Bless God. it is our full responsibility therefore to make sure that anything within "our world" that Jesus died for is carefully protected. How neat will you keep your community if you knew Jesus died for it too? How compassionate are we towards the depletion of the tree, climate change, destruction of wildlife and living organisms that are steadily being obliterated from the face of the earth? our river bodies now have been dried up and suppressed. if you really believe in Jesus Christ as the Author of Creation and the Master Architect, and the full work that he did on the cross, then it is about time we said YES to environmental Preservation and a real love to what He loves. i have started in my little community. The community, the environment, the animals, the babies in the womb, the trees, the sky, the desert, the heart, the sinner, all believe in the Lord Jesus. let us help them also to enjoy Eternal life on this Everlasting Earth. thanks. ‪#‎TheChristianEnvironmentalPresevation‬# By Mr. Emmanuel Boahen of SSTAM.( 0269249054 ) e.boahen@yahoo.com.

Let's Rally Behind Nana Addo For Victory In 2016.

Although, a greater number of Ghanaians are clamouring for a change in government in 2016, anyone with a clear political eye would agree with me that, the said change cannot be effected on a silver platter. It is against this backdrop that many concerned citizens have shown grave concern about how the affairs of the NPP are being run. The unnecessary criticisms, suspicions, and accusations that continue to determine the party's course of action only give room for the NDC to operate and display its mediocrity to the disadvantage of majority of Ghanaians. Admittedly, the NPP as a human organization cannot be faulted for the occurrence of such internal party squabbles. However, what is worrying is the inability of party members to put their differences aside to work in unison. These detractions, no doubt, have affected the party's image in the public eye and must not be entertained further. Having had the opportunity to associate myself with the two seeming factions in the party, I feel so obliged to add my voice to the clarion call for party unity ahead of Election 2016. Presenting a united party to the electorate is a first step in winning power in 2016. Many patriots have been wondering why the bickering in the party continue unabated. But, from the layman's point of view, the challenge before the NPP today is all about the control and management of the Election 2016 Campaign. For, whilst the chief beneficiaries of the two previous campaigns want the status quo to remain in order to further enrich themselves, there are others who believe the campaign should be decentralized to involve polling station executives. It is thus important for all to dialogue to see how best we could project the party's supreme interest as we battle against the NDC in 2016. It must be pointed out to party faithful, that, the NPP cannot and must not stay in opposition beyond January 2017. This is because Ghanaians have had enough of the "Dead Goat" syndrome. Already, a significant number of the party’s sympathizers has suffered under P/NDC's 19-year misrule. Some lost their personal property for merely being sympathetic to the cause of the NPP. There are others who have sustained various degrees of injuries and maimed to life. Some have been humiliated verbally and physically, not forgetting those who have lost their precious lives. I cannot even readily count the number of people who had heart attacks when the NPP lost power in 2008 and 2012. It is in the light of the above that the current generation of the NPP must stop at nothing, but to do more to appease the aforementioned patriots by dislodging the 'monsters' from power in 2016. Probably, some Kukrudites have not taken the sacrifices of many unsung heroes into consideration. But, I must say that throughout the history of NPP, generations laboured for successive ones to share glory. Dr. J.B. Danquah, the Doyen of Ghana politics, died painfully in prison for the sake of the UP tradition; Chief Dombo had to shove his presidential ambition to keep the flame of the tradition burning; Victor Owusu and Prof. Adu Boahen also held the flag of the party in high esteem; as for the living legend, J.A. Kufuor, his legacy would continue to guide us in all our political endeavours. Today in 2015, it is our generation's turn and I don't think our best lies in causing and fueling division in the party we so much cherish. Our flag-bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo has had enough of the criticisms. He must be spared for now, because too much criticism of a leader could be counter-productive. Personally, I think it is time to give Nana Addo the respect and maximum support to ensure total victory in 2016, if only we profess to love the NPP. For the past few years, Ghana has been in great danger because of the level of incompetence and corruption. The NPP is also in danger because the party is undeservedly in opposition. The only way to save the situation is for all patriots to put themselves in the frontline, come Election 2016, for according to the late Nelson Mandela; "It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory or when nice things occur. You take the lead when there is danger, and then people will appreciate your leadership”. The NPP has proven over the years that it has the competent personnel to manage the economy of Ghana better. It is therefore an insult to the NPP to be in opposition. Equally, it is shameful that the UP tradition allowed Nkrumah and his CPP to share the independence glory, having conceived the idea and started the struggle of liberating our people from the colonist. Again, it is pathetic that the NPP failed to sustain power in 2008 in view of the excellent performance of the Kufuor-led NPP administration. Why should the NDC manage oil revenue, when it took serious brains to discover oil in commercial quantities? And how sensible is it to put the cat and smoked fish in the same room? In winding down, I urge all patriots to rally behind Nana Akufo-Addo in order to end this 'Dead Goat' administration. Our intellectual abilities and expertise cannot continue to lie idle whilst Ghana retrogresses in the abundance of natural resources. We cannot revisit the bitter experience in 1979. Putting the past behind us to ensure Nana Addo's victory over Mahama would inure to the benefit of all of us, because Nana Addo has the ideas, experience, and the men to execute better programmes to transform the country. God bless Ghana! God bless Nana Akufo-Addo!! God bless Kufuor!!! Ghanaians Have Lost Confidence In E.C

A Deputy Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Georgina Opoku Amankwaah has bemoaned what she said is the loss of confidence of Ghanaians in the commission. She referred to the recent barometer report, which revealed that the confidence of the electorate in the commission reduced from 75% to 47% in 2014 and described the situation as precarious. “If you look at the last barometer report, the confidence that people had in the EC have dropped from 75 percent to 47 percent but that is how bad it has become,” she said, “It is not good for a country to lose confidence in its election management body. That is very dangerous for us.” In an address to facilitators and participants at a workshop on the upcoming district assembly elections, the EC deputy chair in charge of finance and administration however insisted that the low level of confidence was based on ignorance of the public on the work of the commission. She believes the solution was to change the public’s perception about the EC by educating the public. “We have sought for sponsorship so there will be more of these interactions because I believe that the more you listen and get closer to the Electoral Commission, the more you understand the electoral process and issues, and the less rumours become a reality for you,” she continued. Kotoko Striker Dauda Mohammed Scored The Match Winner For Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

Asante Kotoko striker Dauda Mohammed claims his side will deepen the woes of fierce rivals Hearts of Oak when they meet on Sunday in Week 26 of the Ghana Premier League. Both clubs have suffered their worst season in almost two decades after battling relegation during much of the campaign. Kotoko have been able to move three places away from safety following their 1-0 victory over leaders Ashantigold. However, Hearts are still stuck in the relegation battle. The 17-year-old believes the visiting Porcupine Warriors will be victorious but that anything less will see them slip into the battle zone. “We are aiming at winning all our matches to finish the season on a good note,” Dauda told Goal. "If we lose this game, we will be back in the relegation battle therefore we're leaving no stone unturned.” Dauda, who has scored four goals this season, also revealed that Kotoko lost to Hearts in the President's Cup as a result of a little confusion in the team but insists it has been fixed. “We had some misunderstanding before our last match against Hearts in the President's Cup, which affected our focus. Everything is back to normal so we're aiming at claiming all the points at stake,” he said. “We are charged up and set to hit Hearts on Sunday. The win against Ashantigold last weekend has given us lots of confidence and I can feel the unity in team ahead of the game.” Hearts currently lie 14th on the log with 29 points while Kotoko are 12th with 32 points. The Porcupines have won two, drawn two and lost one in their last five league games against the Phobians in Accra.

Kotoko Robbed With Armed Men.

Asante Kotoko players and staff were robbed by armed men at their hotel in Taifa, Accra, ahead of their fixture against archrivals Hearts of Oak on Sunday. According to an official, belongings of the playing body and officials were stolen after the robbers ransacked their rooms at dawn. “They stole our money, mobile phones and beat up some players too,” an official, who refused to be mentioned, disclosed to Goal. The management called an emergency meeting, which raised fears that the clash could be abandoned by the visitors. However, after another conclave this time with Ghana Premier League board, which was followed by a brief visit from Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi and his collaborators, Kotoko officials announced they would honour the fixture. Both teams are meeting in Week 25 of the GPL, which is also the return leg of their first encounter won by Hearts 1-0. The Porcupines are 12th on the log with 32 points while the Phobians are stuck in the relegation zone on 14th position with 29 points.
