I'm Ready To Debate Nana Addo On All His "Contentious" Statements - Prez Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama is calling for a debate between himself and Presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP] Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

According to him, he needs to set records straight on some “contentious” issues raised by the NPP leader in his bid to win the election come November 7.

He said this in an interview with Accra-based TV3 on the ‘NewDay’ programme when asked if he will again debate Nana Addo before this year’s schedule presidential polls.

“I am willing to debate Nana Akufo-Addo any day, even if you call him today we will put it here . . . I don’t have problem with debating Nana [Nana Addo],” President Mahama responded.

Adding that – “Indeed he [Nana Addo] has made a lot of contemptuous statements I would have wished that you had him here [On the show] so we debate on those issues.”

Nana Akufo Addo and his running mate, Dr. Mahmudu Bawumia have on several occasions raised issues with the governance style of the president accusing him of running down the country’s economy and bringing unbearable hardships on the citizenry.

Nana Addo recently held what he termed was the real state of the nation address after the president had delivered his mandated State of the Nations address to the house of Parliament.

This, the president has denied and said his achievements are evident for all to see. President Mahama has indicated that he would be available for a debate during the campaign season depending on whether his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is willing to participate.

Ahead of this year’s election, it is likely the Institute of Economy Affairs [IEA] will hold a presidential debate for all aspirants including the president – this according President John Mahama will be a ‘fine’ opportunity to react to Nana Addo’s claims.

He prays his party [NDC] will accept such invitation from the IEA when served, but

"It is not for me to say, I am sure that the NDC party at the appropriate time if they are invited to debate will have to take a decision on whether they feel comfortable with whoever is organizing the debate," he added.

Mahama Responds To NPP's ‘True SoNA"...Another Presser This Afternoon!

President John Mahama has responded to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) main opposition leader Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Nana Addo raised a number of issues during what he calls 'the True State of the Nation' held on Monday at the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Accra.

This was after President Mahama's State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Thursday.

Reacting in a facebook post to the NPP Press Conference on Monday, President Mahama wrote:

I have always believed in the tremendous power that exists within every single Ghanaian: the power to influence the course of events and the power to shape the future of this great nation of ours. It is with this belief that I took office as President four years ago, and it is with this same belief that last week I delivered my State of the Nation Address.

The opposition is exercising its democratic right to criticize, which is a proof that we are living in a healthy democracy. However, it would be wrong to try to minimize our achievements and the depth of Ghana’s transformation in the last three years. For me, as President, these last three years are a story of hope– a hope shared by so many of us. This is because what we have been able to achieve so far is for all of us, and it was made possible only through the continuous participation of all of us.

The most important fact about the transformative stories I shared last week, the most fundamental truth about them is that they are not my achievements, they are our achievements!
They are Ghana’s achievements!

Step by step, we built something important, something that lays the foundation for irreversible improvements in the lives of all of us! We worked hard every day, we kept the faith, we kept moving forward – this is how we achieved all this!

Together we are changing lives, one individual at a time. These are our achievements!

This is why I will keep talking about them – because when I talk about them I am honouring each and every one of you”.

In a related development, Peacefmonline is reliably informed that there will be another response from government, possibly the Communications Ministry.

A press conference is scheduled to take place Monday afternoon at the "Meet The Press Conference Room" near the GNAT Hall at 4PM.

FONKAR Declares Support For Nana

FONKAR executives in a pose with Nana Akufo-Addo

The group, Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings (FONKAR), has declared support for the presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

This was when leadership of the group, which is committed to the promotion of the ideals and ideas of former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, paid a courtesy call on the opposition leader yesterday.

National Coordinator of FONKAR, Joseph Bediako, who led the team said, “If they want to organize a demonstration, we will support it; if I go on radio or I ask any of my members to go on radio, they have to speak for the NPP.”

That, he said, did not necessarily mean they would vote for Akufo-Addo and the NPP.

Instead, Mr Joseph Bediako indicated that members of the group would do whatever it takes to help kick out President Mahama and his incompetent National Democratic Congress (NDC) government out of office on November 7, 2016, when the country goes to the polls to elect a new head of state.

He, therefore, promised to meet the so-called ‘babies with sharp teeth’ in government boot for boot when they meet until they (babies) stop the needless attacks on individuals and make the 2016 campaign an issue-based one.

He decried the level of economic hardship in the country as many Ghanaians are struggling to make ends meet.

Nana Akufo-Addo, who was with his party’s acting General Secretary, John Boadu and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kwadaso, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, thanked the leadership of FONKAR for their support and commitment to the cause to remove the NDC from power.

He expressed worry about how the country is virtually being run into ruins, indicating his readiness to put Ghana on a sound footing when voted into power.

John Boadu described the visit by the group as “a continuation of the wave that is engulfing the people of our country about the need for change and considering what they said change must come but it must come with decorum and decency in our politics.”

He wondered why the NDC and its members have become so opposed to criticisms that they resort to personality attacks and insults whenever they are criticized.

“We believe that politics is about issues; it’s about addressing the myriad problems of our people; it has nothing to do with insults. In my mind, if you don’t have anything to say, then you resort to insults,” he said.

“If the NDC is saying they have done so much, they should concentrate on delivering what they’ve done rather than resorting to insults,” Mr Boadu said.

Bediako later introduced some members of the new FONKAR as Richard Bekoe, the Secretary; Christiana Bosu, Spokesperson; Ernest Oduro,  Communications Director; Abigail Owusu, Women’s Organiser and Evelyn Afriyie, Greater Accra Coordinator to  Nana Akufo-Addo.

The rest are Lydia Atta Owusu, Students Representative and Eastern Regional Coordinator; Daniel Amoah, Director of Security; Opoku Agyemang, Director of Research; Christian Lamptey, Western Regional Coordinator; Victoria Sam, Central Regional Coordinator; Rebecca Afriyie, Deputy Coordinator and Kwesi Denkyi, Special adviser.

AUDIO: Akufo Addo FINALLY Speaks On Gitmo Ex-Detainees Saga

The 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has described the ongoing saga involving the arrival into Ghana of two Guantanamo Bay detainees as yet another example of the failure of leadership on the part of President Mahama.

According to Nana Akufo-Addo, the law, as contained inSection 35 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 2008, (Act 762), prohibits the transaction into which President Mahama has entered with the United States government. In addition to this, the President’s decision not to consult the relevant stakeholders in the country, so as to assuage the fears of Ghanaians, has resulted in heightened levels of fear amongst Ghanaians.

Had President Mahama done the needed consultations, Nana Akufo-Addo noted that the “Ghanaian people may well have been spared the disquieting anxiety, in this time of justifiably heightened fear of global terrorism, that we are being led by a President who, ostensibly in the name of compassion, prefers to ignore laws designed to defend the most sensitive area of all, our nation’s security.

The NPP flagbearer made this known when he delivered a tribute in honour of the late Alhaji Alhassan Bin Salih in Wa, at an event of homage held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016.

According to the NPP flagbearer, President Mahama’s failure in showing leadership in this matter “is a sad example of his belief that he is answerable to no one, not even to the laws of the Republic, like s.35 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (Act 760), which, as President, he is sworn to uphold.

Section 35 (1) of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 2008, (Act 762), states that “The Director of Immigration or an officer authorised by the Director shall not grant an endorsement or authority to permit a person to enter this country if there are reasonable grounds to suspect that the person is, will or has been involved in the commission of a terrorist act.

Since he claims that only Presidents Rawlings and Kufuor have the right to criticize him, I would have wished that he had found it worthy to consult both of our two former national leaders before he took this grave decision that has consequences for us all,” he said.

To this end, Nana Akufo-Addo admonished all Ghanaians, regardless of their political or religious affiliations, to “refrain from introducing religious divisions into the debate, for the issue at stake is not a religious one.

In a statement released Sunday evening, Oppong-Nkrumah said getting the party’s flagbearer to be president after the 2016 elections was paramount, adding he would commit himself to the task.

This is the task to which I commit myself and the task I believe we can fulfill working together.”

To NPP Members, Akufo Addo Never Errs...He’s A Saint Before Their Eyes - Gen. Mosquito

General Secretary of NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah

Apart from Jesus Christ who was perfect in his ways on earth, the General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has sarcastically rated the 2016 Presidential Candidate of NPP, Nana Akufo Addo as having similar traits.

According to General Mosquito as he is affectionately called, Nana Akufo Addo is considered a saint in the eyes of the NPP and so every mistake under his leadership should be attributed to others and not him.

The NDC Chief Scribe’s made this remark when he was asked to comment on the NPP’s insistence for a new voters’ register despite the decision of the Electoral Commission to maintain the current voters’ register for the 2016 election.

Making mockery of the NPP’s three times Flagbearer, Asiedu Nketiah on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show said that “under Nana Addo, NPP has never accepted defeat and so this is their normal practice; leave them alone”.

He (Nana Addo) has never admitted any wrongdoings in his life; he is a perfect being and so allow them to continue with the insistent demand for a new register without admitting that they have a problem”, he mocked.

Nana Addo is my friend, Mahama isn't – EC Boss

The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission has revealed that the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is a close friend.

Speaking on Morning Starr Monday, Charlotte Osei told host Nii Arday Clegg that she has no friendship with President Mahama but has known Nana Addo for many years.

“Is John Mahama my friend? No, I have met him in the course of work, have I met Nana Addo, Yes, he actually is my friend...but I do know both of them.

“With Nana, being a young lawyer, I have known him for many years,” Mrs. Osei said.

Mrs. Osei who was the former head of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) was appointed by President Mahama as EC boss in June last year to replace Afari Gyan who retired after 22 years as EC head.

The opposition NPP and pressure group ‘Let My Vote Count Alliance’ have accused the EC boss of bias after several calls for a new voters’ register were rejected by the EC.

Both the NPP and the LMVCA have vowed to challenge the decision of the EC in court.

I’m Eyeing “Incident-Free, Fair” Contest With You - Nana Addo Tells Mahama

The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo is looking “forward to a healthy, incident-free, democratic, free, fair and credible contest” with President John Mahama in the 2016 elections.

In a congratulatory message to President Mahama on his election as the Presidential candidate for his party, the NDC, Nana Addo said "electing representatives of the people in a Republic such as ours is key to deepening our democratic values".

President Mahama was given a 95.1% endorsement by members of his party at the primaries which was held over the weekend.

Bearing in mind the fact that he will be clashing with President Mahama during the 2016 elections, Nana Addo hopes it will be a 'free, fair and credible' contest.

"This is to congratulate President John Dramani Mahama on his election as the presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (“NDC”) for the upcoming presidential elections in 2016. I look forward to a healthy, incident-free, democratic, free, fair and credible contest in 2016. Electing representatives of the people in a Republic such as ours is key to deepening our democratic values.

In that regard, I commend the members, officers and the executives of the NDC for organising and participating in this essential democratic exercise to elect their presidential candidate as well as parliamentary candidates for the various constituencies across the country. I hope lessons from last weekend will help all of us to appreciate the need to strengthen our electoral process and enhance the quality of our democracy" he stated.

United Nations: Nominate And Vote Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo for the Nobel Peace Prize.

NANA ADDO DANKWA AKUFO-ADDO IS THE ONLY UNIQUE AFRICAN AND GHANAIAN LEADER TO COME OUT BOLDLY BEFORE THE WHOLE WORLD TO DECLARE THAT "HE WILL NEVER COMPROMISE GHANAIAN BLOOD FOR THE PRESIDENCY"
This is an urgent move to bring to light the peace-loving nature of this individual, who, in defiance of all those who have painted him as an evil and war mongering leader, has, single-handedly, defused post-election tensions in Ghana, which, but for his timely instruction to his followers, would have erupted into a civil war of unimaginable atrocities. He chose the path of peace by challenging the election results at the Supreme Court and not by violence on the streets.

He must be commended for doing the right thing and exhibiting wisdom and political maturity as well as establishing a precedence, hitherto, alien to most African democracies (if they can be referred to as such) by condemning violence and challenge via the gun. By his decision to seek refuge in the courts of law, he set the example for other leaders to emulate. His decision saved millions of lives, the elderly, the striving youth, orphans, disabled (my son being one of them) and other vulnerable members of our beautiful Ghanaian society.

By his decision, he has also saved the day and avoided the huge cost of war and its toll on our ailing and failing economy. I doff my hat for this man and so must you !!! We, also, want to bring to bear on leaders, whose evil override their conscience and logic, that there is hope in constitutional rule; that the resolution of conflict violently brings nothing but death and destruction, shame and humiliation to the perpetrators and, eventually, they become nothing but rogues who are treated with utmost contempt. To warn all criminally-inclined minds that we want no war and no violence but rather the rule of law and not the rule of the gun...WE DESERVE NOTHING LESS AS GHANAIANS, AS AFRICANS AND AS HUMAN BEINGS!!!

"Let's Now Focus On Winning 2016"- Nana Addo

Let’s Focus On Winning 2016– Akufo-Addo

Despite the mishaps the New Patriotic Party has faced in recent times, the hour is nigh for the party to forget about their past nightmares and focus on channelling their energies into activities that would win them power in 2016.

The above was a directive from the leader of the party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as he attended a 2-day training programme organised by the party for selected regional executives across the country.

To ensure the structures of the party works efficiently, the 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, called on the entire membership of the party to allow those responsible for taking decisions to handle problems that exist in the party.

It would be recalled that a decision by the National Executive Committee of the party to suspend thier National Chairman, Mr. Paul Afoko has generated series of tensions in the party. But for peace to prevail, Nana Addo tasked all members to allow the strutures work.

Our party structures are capable of dealing with the problems, so let us leave the party structures to handle the problems of the party. Let me repeat it. Our party structures are capable of handling the problems in our party, so let us leave it to them to do so, whilst we get on with our main task of mobilisation and organisation of our party,” he stressed.

According to him,  Ghanaians are looking forward to see the NPP administration takeover from the NDC after the 2016 elections.

He added that the desire for change is because electorates believe it is only the NPP that can return the country onto the path of progress and prosperity.

Our country needs us to win, so let us focus on that.  Let us focus on winning, we are capable of it and I have confidence that the people gathered in this room can deliver victory for us,” he said.

An NPP victory in 2016, he once again reiterated, will not be a victory solely for the NPP as a party.

Victory is about building a new Ghana. It is extremely important that we go into this fight knowing that we are not doing so for ourselves or our party, but we are doing so for the people of Ghana. We want to build a prosperous Ghana that our founding fathers dreamt about, and we are capable of doing it. But, first, all of we have to win the election of 2016,” he added.

Nana Akufo-Addo expressed his delight at the successful outcome of the training programme, stating that “the little I have heard tells me that it is an important contribution to our forward movement and it is solid. The people in this room are the key to our victory next year and we stand a good chance of winning.”

He continued, “at the end of the day, all the messages, tips that are going to improve our performance all boil down to one thing: how committed are we to victory next year? Because if we are committed and we imbibe what we are hearing from here, then we are standing on a solid platform for going ahead next year.
